Work – 8:30- 4:30 PM
Basketball and sports- 4:30 -5:00 PM
Practice elocution, poise and how to obtain it- 5:00- 6:00 PM
Study needed inventions- 7:00- 9:00 PM

Olympia Le Tan X Spike Jonze

I know this is a bit old, but I just came across it again and realized – for the first time – that Olympia Le Tan is responsible for the embroidered books that come to life in the film. Olympia Le Tan makes those uber expensive book clutches (ie. Catcher In the Rye, The Paris Review). I even touched one once at The Room. It was over $1000. A bit beyond my price range, but we can dream, or we can own the book and dream that way too.

Sunday afternoon we went out on a book hunt and found some of these jems. Our favourite? This copy of Joseph Conrad’s Lord Jim looking eerily similar to a Daniel Craig movie poster.

Here’s a quick post on what we’re currently reading:

A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway

I hate to say it right now while I’m only a third of the way through, but at this point I’m liking this more than For Whom the Bell Tolls. Maybe it’s because of all the hype around it, but I’m really enjoying it. The writing is still hard to get used to when you’re not used to it, or if you’re just coming off reading an entirely different book – but I remember how much I loved how poetic Hemingway is.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik

I’m breaking the first 2 rules of the book by talking about it so I’ll keep it brief. I thought I’d start the new year off with a book I could finish within a week and it looks like that will be achieved. I’m coming off The Plague by Camus which I finished last week and the change in pace to Fight Club is like the difference between watching a 100 metre dash on TV to actually being one of the runners. I’m just under the halfway mark and it’s certainly entertaining, but if it stays this way through to the end I don’t imagine it being a life changer. I know this because Tyler knows this.
